Niobrara Public Schools School Improvement Goal and Strategies

Goal: Specific: Enhance student math proficiency in all grade levels by introducing a targeted math intervention program, which includes specialized tutoring, enhanced teacher training, and new educational materials.

Measurable: Achieve a 15% increase in the percentage of students meeting or exceeding math standards, as determined by standardized test scores and in-class assessments.

Achievable: Deploy a structured intervention plan with trained tutors, offer ongoing professional development for teachers, and provide updated instructional resources to support students.

Relevant: This goal supports the school system’s commitment to boosting academic performance and equipping students with essential math skills for future success.

Time-bound: Realize the 15% improvement within four school years, with progress evaluations conducted every six months to monitor and refine the approach.

Goal: Enhance student math proficiency across all K-12 grade levels by 15% by 2029, focusing on problem-solving skills, conceptual understanding, and application through a multi-faceted program involving targeted interventions, curriculum enhancement, and teacher development.

Conduct Comprehensive Assessment: Analyze current math proficiency data from standardized tests and internal assessments to identify strengths and gaps.            
Formulate Strategic Plan: Develop a detailed plan outlining specific intervention strategies, curriculum enhancements, and teacher training requirements.   DATA REVIEW        
Set Up Advisory Committee: Establish a committee of educators, administrators, and stakeholders to oversee and guide the implementation process. Math Teachers, Admin. School Board

Professional Development (2024-2029):            
             
Implement Training Programs: Conduct extensive professional development workshops to train teachers on new instructional strategies, curriculum changes, and technology integration. August 28, 2024 All Math Teachers took part in data review and determined routines and protocols for mathematics classrooms to focus.

September 25, 2024 Bridges Placement test data was reviewed and intervention groups were formed. All interventionists were trained.
 
         
Ongoing Support: Set up mentoring and coaching programs to provide continuous support for teachers, addressing challenges and sharing best practices. ICG, Math Interventionist and Principals will provide feedback and coaching

Roll Out Curriculum: Begin implementing the updated curriculum across all grade levels, with a focus on integrating new materials and methods.            
Launch Tutoring Services: Start targeted tutoring services for students who need additional support, using data from initial assessments to prioritize needs.            
Integrate Technology: Incorporate technology tools into daily instruction to enhance engagement and provide personalized learning experiences.            
             
Progress Monitoring & Evaluation (2027-2029):            
             
Quarterly Assessments: Conduct quarterly assessments to track student progress and identify areas needing adjustment.            
Biannual Reports to Stakeholders: Provide biannual progress reports to the Board of Education and other stakeholders, detailing achievements, challenges, and adjustments.            
Adjust Strategies: Use assessment data to refine intervention strategies, curriculum, and training programs as needed.            
             
Final Evaluation & Future Planning (2028-2029):            
             
Year-End Evaluation: Conduct a comprehensive evaluation to measure the 20% improvement goal in math proficiency. Analyze the effectiveness of interventions, curriculum changes, and professional development.            
Develop Long-Term Plan: Based on evaluation results, create a plan for maintaining and expanding successful strategies. Address any identified gaps and prepare for the next cycle of improvement.            
Share Successes: Document and share best practices and successful strategies with other districts and educational communities to promote broader educational improvement.
